Background:
Hi there, I was awarded my PhD in Cultural Studies 2006 and since then have taught at BA and MA level at a number of leading UK universities, and was also a departmental admissions tutor. My work has always been interdisciplinary, focussing on media (including digital media) and cultural studies, but also visual and narrative media, race and gender. I have published a co-edited book and a number of peer-reviewed articles. My freelance journalism and commentary has been published in outlets such as The Independent, The Big Issue, The Guardian and Newsweek. I worked in educational research for several years, but in recent years I've become increasingly interested in prison culture and currently work with the Ministry of Justice, amongst other projects.
